How did you get into MMA?
i got into mma at 14 years old after starting in Jiu-Jitsu when i was 9. typical story wanting to be able to defend myself. they had just made mma legal for kids under pankration rules. due to health reasons i had to change my path but still wanted to be involved w/ the sport in some way.
What is your martial arts background?
i started BJJ at 9 years old , then moved to mma when i was 14. i’ve tried every martial art in between individually. Wrestled for a couple seasons , muay thai for a couple months , boxing w/ richard perez , even tried judo and tae kwon do classes.
Why do you officiate MMA?
after injury and not being able to fight myself i decided to move to the side lines but still wanted to be involved so i chose officiating.
What is your career background?
I’m still young so mostly customer service jobs , such as coffee places and restaurants. I’ve also worked as a couch for kids beginning their bjj journeys when i still lived in the manteca/stockton area. Since i’ve moved to san diego area last year i’ve started bartending and serving tables but i hope to make officiating a full time job down the line.
What do you do on your time off?
Besides martial arts , I enjoy music festivals and concerts, I enjoy going to the beach and meeting new people. I work in a business of connections so it’s many interactions every day which I really enjoy, whether good or bad. Customer service is definitely my thing.
